How can I test the speed of my Internet Connection?
[Anonymous] | 02-28-2016 14:35
There are several websites that allow you to measure the Internet speed of your connection. Remember, there are two speeds that you want to measure: Download Speed (downloading documents, music, videos from sites on the Internet), and Upload Speed (uploading photos to FaceBook, or sending documents to a server). The final measure can be something like 10Mbps/1Mbps, which in this case means that the download speed is 10 Megabits per second, and the upload speed is 1 Megabit per second. We have found this site to be reliable and easy to use: http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest

What is my IP Address?
[Anonymous] | 02-28-2016 14:38
Your IP address is the unique number that your device (tablet, computer, printer, phone) receives when it connects with a TCP/IP network. If your network is connected to the Internet, you might have two IP addresses: One that identifies you inside your premises (such as 192.168.1.100, or 192.168.0.100) and one that is how the rest of the world sees you, or more accurately, the one that your router receives. We found this site to be easy to understand to find your external (the router's) IP: www.canyouseeme.org Also, you can check www.WhatIsMyIP.com for additional information that is not in the first site.

Are your passwords outdated?
[Anonymous] | 06-04-2024 10:54
These times of distributed high computing power (bitcoin everyone?) have made possible that the standard 8 characters passwords can be now cracked in five minutes, according to a study published in April 2023 by Hive Systems. Further reading (Here). The recommendations of the study are the ones we have been hearing for a while: A good password is long, contains letters, numbers and symbols (use all the keyboard), and avoids sequences or repeated characters. Create that Excel spreadsheet or a text file to keep track of them, and make sure you have a printed copy in a “safe” place. Unsure about the security of your PC or your network? Call or text us (973-767-4198) to schedule a security audit.
